It is my desire to recreate the principal figures from the Lincoln County War. The power struggle between factions, which led to this war, is a brief, yet fascinating period of history that dealt with the settlement and gentrification of the American West. These pioneer spirits fought violently against each other to achieve economic dominance in an area that offered them great opportunity.

In the end, neither faction won. Through each of my pastel portraits, I explore the personality and temperament of many characters of this intriguing saga that took place in the  town of Lincoln, New Mexico, and in surrounding areas. The most beguiling figure is Billy the Kid.

Each portrait is 22" x 30". The pastels that make up this project are not for sale. Individual Giclee prints will be available soon.
