ARTIST'S STATEMENT
The classical background that I received as a student at
Tyler School of Fine Art in Philadelphia has served
me well over the years. Through the tutelage of Dean
Boris Blai, an assistant to Rodin, I became adept at
the Greek sculptors' interpretation of the human form.
My academic training took me through renaissance painting,
French sculpture and the work of the great French impressionists.
Years of painting and sculpture led me to my own style,
but nothing matched the profound change that overtook
my work after relocating to the southwest. The geography,
history, light and lore of New Mexico all came together
as a collage to create a formidable impression. |

BIOGRAPHY
Maurice Turetsky, a painter and sculptor was born and raised
in Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Tyler School of
Fine Art in Philadelphia. After years of working in
the design and health fields in Michigan, Maurice relocated
to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he now works in his
studio as a full time artist. |
